Men’s Hormone Health

Something has changed.
You can feel it in your energy, your drive and your body and you want to know why.

Receptors for testosterone sit in muscle, bone, brain, blood vessels and bone marrow, so when it falls the effects reach well past libido into energy, strength, mood, concentration and mid-section fat.

Most of that fall can come from things other than age.

A result inside the normal range can still be low for you, because the level at which each man functions well is individual. We read your results against your symptoms and your own baseline, and we work on the causes of the change as part of your treatment.

Being told you are fine, or that this is just getting older, is not an answer.

We take the time, investigate properly  and build the plan from your own results.

MEN’S HORMONE HEALTH

What brings men to us

Low testosterone

A low result is a finding to be explained, and for most men the explanation lies upstream in body fat, blood sugar, sleep, alcohol, stress, medicines, thyroid function or nutrient status. Lower sex drive, erectile difficulty and fewer morning erections are the three symptoms most closely linked to a low result, and each becomes more likely as testosterone falls.

  • Low sex drive
  • Erectile difficulty
  • Fewer morning erections
  • Fatigue
  • Reduced drive and motivation
  • Low mood and irritability
  • Poor concentration
  • Disturbed or unrefreshing sleep

Strength, body composition and long-term health

Testosterone and mid-section fat affect each other. Fat tissue converts testosterone to oestrogen, so as fat builds testosterone tends to fall, and lower testosterone makes muscle harder to build and keep.

  • Loss of muscle and strength
  • Mid-section fat
  • Slower recovery from training
  • Rising blood sugar and insulin resistance
  • Snoring or pauses in breathing at night
  • Reduced bone density
  • Breast tissue enlargement
  • Reduced body or facial hair

If you plan to have children, or want to keep that option open, tell us at the start, because some hormone treatments lower sperm production and others preserve it.

HOW WE INVESTIGATE

What else changes, and what we look for

The changes you cannot feel

Low testosterone is often found alongside changes that cause no symptoms of their own, and those changes shape long-term health while tiredness and low drive have your attention.

  • Insulin resistance and rising blood sugar
  • Fat in the liver
  • Low-grade inflammation
  • Higher cholesterol and heart risk
  • Bone loss
  • Thyroid issues
  • Low iron, B12, vitamin D or zinc

What we investigate

Many men arrive with a single testosterone result and no explanation of what is behind it.

The baseline covers your testosterone and the protein that carries it, the pituitary hormones that signal the testes, your oestradiol and prolactin, your thyroid, blood sugar and insulin, your cholesterol and heart risk markers, liver and kidney function, a full blood count, your iron and nutrient levels, and PSA where your age or history indicates, along with your blood pressure, weight and waist.

Most testosterone in your blood is bound to that carrier protein and only the unbound portion reaches your tissues. We calculate your free testosterone alongside the total, because a total result can look normal while the amount reaching your tissues is low.

We read those results against your symptoms and your own baseline, and we look at the pattern across the whole panel rather than one value on its own.

Whatever we recommend, we will discuss it with you and design your treatment to suit your needs.

OUR PROCESS

How We Approach Hormone Health

01

Assess

A thorough review of your symptoms, previous results, and what you’ve already tried. We take the full picture seriously, including the symptoms you’ve been told don’t warrant investigation.

02

Investigate

Targeted hormone testing that goes beyond standard panels. We look at patterns across multiple markers, conversion pathways, and the related systems that influence how your hormones actually function. Not just whether individual values sit within a broad population reference range.

03

Personalise

Where treatment is indicated, our clinical team includes Australian registered prescribers who can consider the clinically appropriate options for you. Your plan is built around your results and your preferences. You’ll understand not just what you’re taking but why, and what to expect.

04

Optimise

Hormone health changes over time.

In follow up consultations we review your symptoms and results against your own baseline and adjust your plan as your body responds.

Get Started

Choose How to Begin

If you are unsure, start with the 30min. It fits most first conversations. However, if your history goes back years or there is previous testing to interpret, the hour does in one sitting what would otherwise take two appointments, at the same total cost.

Consultations run to the time booked. If yours needs longer, we will tell you before we go over, and the extra time will be charged.
