About IKAO
I built IKAO because I kept watching people leave appointments without answers.
I have worked in pharmacy for a long time, in community and in hospital, standing at a counter or beside a bed while people tried to navigate a system that moves too fast to explain itself. Patients came in with prescriptions they did not understand, people tried to make sense of discharge notes written for other doctors, and families stood in corridors after a specialist appointment still unsure what had been decided.
I was the person who stopped and explained it until it made sense. People told me I was the one person who had taken the time to make sure they understood, and it made a difference to them.
Eventually I decided to make that the whole service.

Understanding what a treatment does, how it works, and why a treatment that should work sometimes does not, is the foundation IKAO is built on. Why thyroid medication stops being absorbed, and why a probiotic from a shelf is not the same as one built for your own microbiome.
At IKAO our clinicians are all Australian registered health practitioners: pharmacists, doctors and nurses. And IKAO clinicians all work the same way: we look at the whole picture. We explain what we find in plain language, and build a plan around your results and needs.
