Gut & Microbiome Health
When nothing has worked, it might be your gut
GUT AND MICROBIOME TREATMENT
What brings people to us
Digestive symptoms
The same symptoms can come from how well you break your food down, from the state of the gut lining, or from the bacteria themselves, and the treatment is different for each one. We work with you to understand your situation.
- Bloating and wind
- Constipation, diarrhoea, or alternating between the two
- Cramping and abdominal pain
- Reflux
- Food reactions and intolerances
- IBS
Most of what this costs you never reaches a symptom list. Planning around toilets, eating before you go out, keeping a food diary that tells you nothing. Digestion and gut health depend on much more than your diet. We look for all the potential underlying causes and patterns.
Symptoms that seem unrelated
Some people we see for gut health arrive with no digestive complaint at all. Your bowel is where many vitamins, minerals and medications are absorbed, and it is also home to immune tissue, so problems that seem to have nothing to do with digestion may be caused by gut disruption.
We look for those connections.
- Skin issues, including rosacea, eczema and adult acne
- Mood changes, anxiety and low motivation
- Persistent fatigue
- Iron or B12 depletion despite supplementing
- Thyroid or other medication that has stopped working
- Recurrent infections and slow recovery
- Joint aches and generalised inflammation
- Histamine-type reactions to foods, wine or fermented products
HOW WE INVESTIGATE
What we look for, and why
What we investigate
Many people come to us having already done a gut protocol, an elimination diet, or a cupboard full of supplements, more fibre, fewer foods and a probiotic from the shelf, with mixed results at best. Those plans are built for a gut in general, so we start by testing yours, and everything that follows is chosen from your own results.
Testing is chosen from your history and your symptoms. Depending on your picture, that can mean looking at the composition and diversity of your microbiome, how well you are breaking down food, inflammatory markers in the bowel, and whether there are pathogens, parasites or bacterial overgrowth.
We also look at absorption and nutrient status, and at how your current medicines and supplements interact with all of it. Whatever we recommend, we will discuss it with you first.
our process
How We Approach Gut Health
01
Assess
A detailed conversation about your symptoms, history, what you’ve tried, and what you haven’t. We look for patterns across digestion, energy, skin, mood, and immune function, not gut symptoms in isolation.
02
Investigate
Targeted microbiome and stool testing. We identify what’s present, what’s missing, specific bacterial populations that influence weight, inflammation, and metabolic function, and what may be disrupting the balance.
03
Personalise
Built from your results. Supplementation, nutrition, lifestyle and any medication are considered together, and we explain what we are treating and why. Where indicated, our clinical team includes Australian registered prescribers who can consider the clinically appropriate options for you.
04
Optimise
Gut health takes time to respond, so we plan over months. In follow up consultations we review your results with you, refine the plan and track how you are going.
Get Started
Choose How to Begin
-
30 MINUTES · $120
Bloating, irregular motions, cramping or food reactions, where the picture is reasonably contained and recent. We go through your symptoms and history, work out what may be causing them, and agree what is worth investigating.
-
60 MINUTES · $240
For gut symptoms going back years, several things already tried, or previous testing you want interpreted. The extra half hour gives us time to work through the whole history properly rather than rush the end of it.
If you are unsure, start with the 30min. It fits most gut questions. However, if your history goes back years or there is previous testing to interpret, the hour does in one sitting what would otherwise take two appointments, at the same total cost.
Consultations run to the time booked. If yours needs longer, we will tell you before we go over, and the extra time will be charged.
